Heritage Home Restoration
Burgundy, France
2020
This was a deeply personal project. A 300-year-old stone house in the heart of Burgundy, in need of everything—structure, plumbing, wiring, light. Over three years, I carefully restored all three floors, working closely with local trades and traditional materials to bring the home back to life.
We stripped back years of plaster to reveal the original stone walls and staircase. The floors were rebuilt and leveled using Bourgogne limestone tiles on the ground floor, and the original oak boards upstairs were restored wherever possible. Triple-glazed solid oak windows and doors were custom made to meet modern performance standards without compromising authenticity.
Each room was rethought: new kitchen, bathrooms, and storage were added. We carved out a studio on the top floor, insulated the attic, and tucked a new bathroom into the eaves. Every decision was about balance—honouring the heritage, while making the house comfortable, functional, and full of quiet beauty.
